Self - Canvas
My colleague’s final project for a digital photography class was based on color principles. Using two photographers, myself included, the artist’s goal was to capture color in a pure, raw, and bold manner. Dressed in white the artist himself decided to become the canvas while the photographers became his audience.
We worked as a team and shared the experience together as he poured 9 bottles
of paint onto himself. The order of colors
goes as follows: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet, brown, black, and white.
The artist quotes “What was intended to be
a mere photo shoot ended up becoming a surreal, mental and physical experience.” As his photographer with an assigned task at hand, I fell witness to seeing him covered in paint from head to toe, caking his hair and deafening his ability to hear all the while freezing in 32 degree weather. At the end, uncontrollable shaking overtook him.
He quotes “I forgot about the photo shoot; all
I could think about was how cold and trapped I felt.”
